Hi Tutakhail, It sounds like the issue is related to your SWF, or it not playing, not necessarily the component only template. I'd suggest assigning your default template to the page that your trying to display the flash on and see if it works. I've also found different editors to have varying levels of success when it comes to embedding a SWF, as they tend to add different JavaScript or HTML. Sure, you can add an "enter" button to get into the website. In fact, you can add anything that you would on any HTML page. You can try the method I posted just before your comment. Hope that helps. Best, Matt

Thanks alot for this awesome tutorial, its probably a very old thread by now but ill ask anyways.I have followed your instructions step by step, the only place where i m stuck is that I added the .swf file to the article using the "insert/edit embedded media" button. But now i only get a white blank page! perhaps it cant find the flash file im trying to embed.Another question i have is, is it possible to add an "enter"button to get the website? Thanks in advance!

It's simple. You can link to any part of your website from the splash page. I like to use Joomla's "unSEF'd" URLs for this. For example, if I wanted to link to an article with the ID of 1, I'd add a link to index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=1 Thanks for the comment!

Hi Simon, That's fantastic to hear. I really appreciate the feedback. I'm actually in the process of developing a new site to support a complete template framework that will have features like this (and many other cool tricks). It also takes this kind of approach. You can sign up for news about this at http://joomlaengineering.com. Thanks again! Matt

I've looked around for a joomla splash page and it all seemed complicated to me as joomla noob until I tried this today. So far it seems perfect - easy to install and just works. Thanks for sharing it and writing such a good tutorial - that really helps. Cheers

Hi Eric, Thanks for the kind words. Without community support, Joomla wouldn't exist. Writing these tutorial is the least we can do to give back to those that gave so much to develop and support it. In fact, we're working hard on developing a new learning tool for the Joomla community. We hope to have it released in the next few months. Keep an eye out! Best, Matt
